Spring into Raspberries

It’s hard to imagine that spring is right around the corner, especially since Punxsutawney Phil ended up seeing his shadow AGAIN. Is anyone even remotely surprised anymore? To all my fellow friends out there, don’t cry- Dry your eye! What better way to overcome the cold weather blues by gearing up for the springtime with fresh fruits?

Nothing screams “SPRING IS COMING!” louder than feeding your salivating mouth with the fresh burst of berry flavor. Especially big, fat red raspberries, so plump and juicy that you almost feel bad eating them because they look so perfect. These are the closest things to picking them from your own backyard.

Our produce buyer was able to lock in on a double shipment of fresh cases of raspberries for your garnishing and sampling pleasures. Each case contains 12 half pints, and everyone knows that berries costing less than $20 a case in mid February is unheard of… Everyone also knows that D&B is capable of making the unheard of, heard of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other Killer Steals This Week:

King Oyster Mushrooms, 1# case

Mixed Edible Flowers, 100 count

Organic Baby Arugula, 3# case

Romaine Hearts, 24 heads per case

Elegant Garnishes

Let’s take a second and review the facts. Back in the day, wicked awesome Master pastry chefs would slave for hours and make their own floral designs from fondant. But, have you ever stopped to wonder how they always made things seem so simple? And if we, “non-wicked awesome Master pastry chefs,” obviously lacking years of practice and technique, tried to get down and dirty at home and do things on our own, it’s impossible! Here’s a motivation booster- times are changing. As been captured by TV shows on the Food Network, and used by many chefs and foodies, we can save time by using real flowers as a garnish. Not only do these little guys look beautiful, but they can actually be eaten. For once, we can consume a non-perishable fiber that doesn’t taste like cardboard. Who would have ever thought?
Available to us through special order, we are able to wrap our hands around the loveliest of products perfect for Valentine’s Day menus. Preserving flowers is classic, and why not be unique? Complete the menu for the big day by ordering a box of these crystallized violas or pansies, which are slightly dusted with a shimmery powder. Edible flowers are like Christmas ornaments; they add hints of sparkle and color everywhere. Use them on cupcakes and wedding cakes. Even appetizers and salads could never have enough pizazz. Whatever your application, these fancy delights make perfect garnishes for any arrangement you have going on. Whether your V-day dishes are for individuals or presented for two, there are many ideas floating around that can exploit these forms of sophisticated wildlife.
Make your decisions quick. We will need close to one weeks notice to pre order these for you so you can have them for Valentine’s Day.
